Stems quadrangular, sulcate, pilose along sulci and on the nodes. Petioles 1–4 cm, slightly winged, pubescent; leaf blades ovate to elliptic, 5–11 × 2–5 cm, base truncate, rounded, decurrent onto the petioles, apex shortly acuminate or acute, margin entire or slightly crenulate, glabrous except for pilose on the veins, adaxially covered with numerous cystoliths, lateral veins 5–7 pairs. Racemes axillary or terminal, 3–8 cm. Pedicels 1–3 mm, pilose. Bracts linear‑lanceolate, ca. 2.5 × 1 mm, pubescent; bracteoles triangular‑lanceolate, ca. 2 × 1 mm, glabrescent except for the ciliate margin. Calyx 5‑lobed almost to the base; lobes linear‑lanceolate, 4–5 × 1–1.2 mm, apex acuminate, abaxially sparsely pubescent, margin ciliate. Corolla white, pale violet, spotted on the center lobe of the lower lip, 1.2–1.5 cm, campanulate, outside pilose, inside glabrous, tube‑base cylindric, ca. 3 cm, gradually widened to ca. 5 mm wide at mouth; lobes ovate or semiorbicular, ca. 3 × 2 mm, middle lobe with a violet blotch. Stamens 4, didynamous, included; filaments glabrous, the longer pair ca. 6 mm, the shorter pair ca. 4 mm; anther‑thecae 2 × 1 mm, muticous. Ovary ellipsoidal, ca. 3.5 mm, comose; style 0.8–1 cm, velutinous towards the base; stigma capitellate, 2‑lobed. Capsule oblong, 1.8–2 cm, ca. 2 mm wide, pubescent, base solid‑stalked, 2 – 4‑seeded. Seeds irregularly obovate, flat, 3–5 mm, margin angled, glabrous, tuberculate‑rugose. 葉軸有一狹窄綠色的翅 馬灣千樹誌 Tree Blossom: 「小花十萬錯」的名字來由 十萬錯屬（Asystasia）是爵床科下的一個屬，Asystasia 在拉丁文有著「不一貫的」、「不統一的」、「不按標準的」意思。對照其植物學中的拉丁文原意，可解作「沒有苞片」，苞片是在花或花序基部著生的變態葉。由於大多數爵床科的花卉都有苞片，但是在此屬之苞片卻不顯眼，即是「唔跟大隊」，非常錯, 故翻譯為十萬錯. 分析一下十萬錯屬的錯在哪兒． 苞片是一種變態葉，著生於花或花序的花梗附近，在總花梗的叫苞片，在花梗上的叫小苞片．主要有兩種作用，一是保護花芽，就像托葉保護葉芽一樣；另一作用是吸引傳粉者． 十萬錯屬是爵床科的其中一員，而十萬錯屬的拉丁名是Asystasia，意思是不一致，而不一致的地方是bracts，即苞片．爵床科對苞片的描述是通常大，而對十萬錯屬的描述是苞片和小苞片均小． 原來十萬錯屬錯在苞葉不夠變態！苞片太小，以至保護花芽不力，及沒有幫手吸引傳粉者．但睇落都只是有兩小錯，其餘九萬九千九百九十八種錯是冤枉的． many thanks Daniel Hang's info. | |
